A quick background about my hair journey. I went natural my sophomore year of high school. So its been about 8 years since I’ve become a naturalista. It took me going through product after product to find products that enhance my coily, kinky, curls! I tell people all the time that natural hair is a lifestyle because you will invest a lot of time and a whole lot of money. Here are a few of my favorite oils that will give you juicy, bouncy beautiful curls without completely breaking your pockets:

MUST HAVE OILS TO HYDRATE THOSE CURLS:

  1. Trader Joe’s Organic Virgin Coconut Oil: $5.99 This one of my favorites! This coconut oil makes my hair feel so hydrated and soft. You can get this at any Trader Joe’s store and also you can get sweet bundle deals with multiple jars on Amazon !                                                                                  Screenshot 2018-02-26 at 7.38.47 PM

2. Jamaican Castor Oil: $8.99-$14.59 (Depend on the # of oz.) Many Ladies and Gents consider this oil their “hairline rejuvenation miracle”. I have loss a bit of hair on my edges and have tried Jamaican Castor Oil to regrow my hair. I must say I did see a little results but unfortunately nothing too drastic. One thing I see a lot of people say that used this oil for similar reasons that I did stated that consistency and patience, two things that i didn’t stick to. Also be sure to know that this is a super thick oil so when using it don’t overdo it ! You can grab this at your local beauty supply store or of course on Amazon!

3. Olive Oil: $2.79 (Hollywood Beauty) & $6.72 (Bertolli) When it comes to olive oil I’m not too picky about which brand I’d typically go for but this specific brand always catches my eye. Extra Virgin Olive Oil also gives my curls a beautiful shine. Another plus about olive oil is that it’s typically a very thin oil so you don’t need to use a lot, just a quick dab and you’ll be all set ! You can buy either version of these olive oil brands at your local beauty supply store and grocery store!

4. African Shea Butter: $8-$15 (Depending on # of oz). This by far has to be one of my favorite oils because it is multi purpose. As stated on the label, this African Shea Butter can be used to treat dry skin, minor burns, promote muscle relaxation, act as a sunscreen because of its vitamins E & F, treat stretch marks and dark spots and as a massaging oil and of course a hair conditioner. The absolute best thing about this product is that it does not expire ! In order to effectively use this product in your hair you must first melt it from its solid natural state. I use this product as a leave in conditioner once my hair is in its twists accompanied with a plastic cap to trap the heat to ensure the utmost moisture to my curls. When buying this product be sure to know that there are many variations of the African Shea Butter. The unrefined, raw and organic kind is my preference and that is the one shown below! This product can be brought at any street fair, Walmart, and even on amazon !
